About Me

Hi, I'm Laurien (she/her), a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and somatic trauma therapist. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, empowerment, and transformation. I believe our bodies are designed to heal on every level, including the healing of trauma in the nervous system. My support is focused on relational and attachment healing. I’m also a mom, wife, and friend of dogs and people. I love being in nature, being by water, connecting with others, and I value times of solitude. The mountains of Colorado have been my home for twenty-two years.

I have been a body-centered therapist since 2004. Early in my career I supported individuals and groups as a licensed massage therapist, Zen Shiatsu practitioner, and Yoga instructor. I have worked as a clinician in community mental health and recovery settings since 2018. After becoming an LCSW, I started my private practice in 2021. My focus is on individuals and couples struggling with anxiety, anger management, conflict, shame and disconnection, lack of trust, attachment and childhood trauma, codependency, grief, and loss. I offer a safe space where it’s okay to not feel okay. My therapy dog, Bee, loves people and offers her support too.

My Training

I am grateful for the guides who have supported me in my healing journey. My teachers include Peter Levine, PhD (and faculty), founder of Somatic Experiencing®, Stan Tatkin, PhD, couples therapist and founder of PACT, Linda Thai, LMSW, somatic trauma therapist and educater, Terry Real, LICSW, couples therapist and founder of RLT, Harriet Lerner, PhD, psychologist and author, Brene Brown, MSW, PhD, author and educator, and the late Melody Beattie, author and teacher.

I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work from Colorado State University, and my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Wheaton College. I hold certifications in Yoga, DBT, Massage Therapy (no longer practicing), and I am a Somatic Experiencing advanced level student, soon-to-be practitioner (SEP) in February 2026. I am continually learning or assisting in somatic individual and couples therapy trainings throughout the U.S. I engage in regular consultations to stay present and sharp.

My Approach: relational, down to earth, creative, nonjudgmental, calming, warm, supportive.
