About Me

Hi, I'm Laurien (she/her), a mom, wife, therapist, and dog handler. I love being in nature, hiking, being by water, connecting with others, and I also value solitude. Colorado has been my home for twenty years. I have an extensive background in somatic therapy and have worked with individuals as a healing practitioner since 2004. I’m grateful for the therapist guides who have supported me in my healing journey, and I engage in regular consultation to be able to support clients well and stay present and sharp.

Early in my career I developed a holistic healing arts practice, supporting individuals and groups as a licensed massage therapist, Zen Shiatsu practitioner, and Yoga instructor. My interest in the healing of trauma grew while I was in graduate school for social work at CSU while interning with people who had experienced complex trauma. I learned so much from supporting people in crisis, individuals and families with intergenerational and complex trauma, military veterans with PTSD, and moms with birth trauma in clinical and community mental health settings for years before going into private practice. I meet people where they are (over Zoom and in person, with insurance and without). My approach is rooted in empathy, deep listening, and empowerment. I believe that healing trauma is possible, the body is designed for resiliency, and engaging in therapy takes courage and curiosity. I am committed to being a trustworthy guide on your healing journey.

My Approach: relational, down to earth, nonjudgmental, calming, warm, supportive.
