About Me

Hi, I'm Laurien (she/her), a mom, wife, therapist, artist, and pet parent. I love being in nature - especially by the water, and I enjoy connecting with others through food, Yoga, dancing, and safe circles. I also value solitude, taking time to run, paint, write, and read. Colorado has been my home for twenty years. I have an extensive background in somatic therapy and have worked with individuals as a healing practitioner since 2004.

Early in my career I was a licensed massage therapist, Zen Shiatsu practitioner, and Yoga instructor, faciliating healing in the body with individuals and groups through communication and safe touch. During graduate school for social work, and thereafter in community mental health, educational and clinical settings, my interest in trauma healing expanded. In January 2022, I opened my private practice with an intention to meet people where they are (over Zoom and in person, with insurance and without) and to treat trauma in the nervous system. My approach is rooted in empathy, deep listening, and empowerment. I believe that improving mental health through therapy takes courage and curiosity, and I am committed to being a safe and trustworthy guide on your healing journey.

In our sessions, I provide a safe space where it's okay to not feel okay, building awareness of and capacity for uncomfortable emotions. As your capacity to notice and manage emotions grows, your sense of self, aliveness, goals and dreams will also change. Whether we're meeting in person or through video telehealth, my goal is to create a supportive environment where you can explore unhelpful patterns, beliefs, feelings and experiences openly.

My Approach: relational, down to earth, nonjudgmental, calming, warm, supportive.
